Behind the Lens: Rediscovering my passion for Photography

After taking a few years off to focus on family life (and, let’s be honest, chasing little ones around), I’m finally dusting off my camera and diving back into photography. Recently, I had the chance to shoot a friend’s wedding, and wow—what a day! Between the intimate moments, heartfelt vows, and all the little details that made it so them, I was reminded just how much I love capturing life’s stories. It left me thinking… maybe it’s time to explore wedding photography as more than just a one-off thing.

Even during my “time off,” I couldn’t resist snapping photos here and there. Last year, I treated myself to a shiny new camera (best decision ever), and it’s been fun playing around with all the fancy features I told myself I absolutely needed.

Photography has always been my happy place. When I need to unwind, I love heading out to shoot landscapes—there’s something so calming about chasing sunsets or finding the perfect reflection in a quiet lake. But when I’m feeling creative (or let’s be honest, over-caffeinated), I’ll experiment with abstract shots or find quirky new angles in everyday portraits and landscapes. It’s all about seeing the world differently—sometimes by lying on the ground or perching on something I probably shouldn’t.

Below are a few of my favorite recent photos—consider it a little “hey, I still got it!” highlight reel from my time away.

Oh, and if you’re curious about those wedding shots I mentioned (spoiler alert: they’re gorgeous), check out my next blog post! Trust me, you won’t want to miss them.

Cheers to finding beauty everywhere,
Robyn
